BRAIN AND ORBIT MRI

(Without contrast)

Technique:Axial , coronal & sagittal  T1  , Axial , sagittal , coronal FSE  T2 , Axial FLAIR & sagittal PD .

REPORT :

The interhemispheric fissure is centered on the midline .

The cerebral ventricles / cisterns are normal size and shape .

The cortex and white matter show normal signal intensity .

No abnormalities are seen in the basal ganglia , int . capsule, corpus callosum , Thalamus and tectal plate .

The brain stem , cerebellum show no abnormal changes in signal characteristics.

The sella and pituitary – pineal g .are normal and parasellar, suprasellar  structures are unremarkable.

The cerebello pontine angle area appears normal on each side.

The internal acoustic meatus has normal width .

The falx , dura and calvaria are unremarkable .

Major intracranial vascular structures , pericavernous spaces and visualized intracranial nerve complex are normal .

Orbits are symmetrical and of normal size .

The orbital walls show a normal configuration with smooth , sharp margins .

The globes are symmetrical and of normal size and the ocular contents show normal signal characteristics .

The eye muscles are normally positioned .

The retrobulbar fat , ophthalmic vein are unremarkable .

– Fluid around the right & left optic nerve suggestive for bilateral optic neuritis

– Mucosal thickening in ethmoidal cells

are seen

– MRI with contrast & clinical correlation is recommended .
